Science Skateboards was an independent skateboard company that existed between 2006 and 2020. During that time we released skateboards featuring artwork by illustrators, photographers and designers from the UK and elsewhere. The boards were manufactured by Generator Distribution.

Most of the graphics and collaborations were connected in some way to things that had left an imprint through decades of skateboarding. Skateboard graphics, illustration, photography, music, books, magazines, places, people, friendships and experiences that had shaped the way I saw things.

Produced mostly in runs of 300-700 boards per series, they were sold through supporting skate shops, independently and also through a handful of small distributors in the UK, Japan, Switzerland and United States.

Parlour Skate Store in London supported us massively whilst they were around. They played a real part in the London skate scene at the time. Thank you to everyone who supported Science over the years.

Into The Mystic

Artwork: Arran Gregory

London artist. Works with sculpture and bold shapes, often drawing from natural forms.

Skate graphic inspired by the Van Morrison lyric 'Hark now, hear the sailors cry'.

Biko Issah & Chris Morgan - Heavyweight skateboard graphic

Heavyweight

Artwork: Biko Issah & Chris Morgan

East London tattooer and illustrator. Known for tight portraits and work that draws from surrealism, classic hip hop, and '90s skate culture.

A skateboard graphic based on a classic Muhammad Ali World Heavyweight Championship fight poster. Biko redrew Ali from the original, whilst I handled the typography and layout. Created as an unspoken tribute to my dad, who had been diagnosed with Parkinson's a few years previous.

For many years it was just ideas and sketches, which then became tee's and hoodies whilst i was trying to work out how to start an independent skateboard company. Some of the very first Science clothes were sold in 50:50 Skate Supplies in Bristol during the late 90's, while the first run of skateboards were still around 5 years away.

Science Skateboards was organically built around skaters and collaborating with artists, filmers, photographers and friends. Like many independent skate companies, the people involved evolved naturally over the years, with skaters joining at different stages as time progressed. A few stayed the whole time, some for many years, others for shorter periods. A handful were involved before the first run of boards even existed. Each played a part in the companies history.
